Lucretia Shaw

Lucretia Shaw is a visionary STEM educator, engineer, and community leader committed to empowering youth to become creators—not just consumers—of technology. As the Founder and CEO of Galaxy Kids Code, she leads an organization dedicated to igniting curiosity, building confidence, and inspiring innovation in young minds, with a focus on girls and underrepresented youth in tech.

Lucretia’s passion for understanding how things work began early. As a child, she spent hours copying code from her father’s computer magazines, sparking a lifelong fascination with computing. She went on to study engineering at Stanford University, earning a degree in Computer Systems Engineering, and launched a successful 16- year career in technical roles across the financial services industry.

Despite her corporate success, Lucretia felt called to serve her community more directly. She founded Galaxy Kids Code Club to provide children—especially those historically excluded from STEM—with opportunities to explore coding, engineering, and technology in meaningful, hands-on ways. Through real-world projects, creative challenges, and culturally responsive teaching, Lucretia helps young learners see themselves as innovators and problem-solvers.

For Lucretia, STEM In Living Color is a natural extension of her mission. She believes that local, community-based STEM experiences are vital to building strong, curious, and confident children. The event creates a joyful space where families connect, kids explore, and learning comes alive through play and discovery.

Originally from Denver, Colorado, Lucretia now lives in Antioch, CA with her partner and two children. She serves on the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, advises the Antioch Youth Services and Recreation Committee, and is a member of the Computer Science Teachers Association, California School-Age Consortium, and National After-School Association.

Lucretia’s work is rooted in purpose: to spark wonder, open doors, and expand what’s possible for every child. Through Galaxy Kids and her community leadership, she’s building a future where all children have the tools—and the confidence—to lead, create, and thrive.
